Ammodo's statement regarding the Zwarte Zwanen episode of 23 April 2025

We have taken note of the broadcast of Zwarte Zwanen (Omroep Max), which aired on NPO 2 on 23 April 2025.

We do not recognise ourselves in this highly one-sided representation of the facts. We believe that the portrayal presented in the broadcast does not do justice to reality, and we explicitly distance ourselves from it.

Stichting Ammodo is committed to public benefit by supporting projects and institutions in the fields of art, science and architecture. Ammodo obtains its financial resources primarily from donations from Inphykem Foundation.

Inphykem was in the past the sole shareholder of the insurer Optas N.V., with which a large number of transport and port companies had insured their pension schemes. Optas N.V. was sold in its entirety to Aegon N.V. in 2007. This left the rights of all policyholders fully intact and, in addition to the saved pension money, the equity was also transferred unchanged.

After the sale of Optas N.V. to Aegon N.V. in 2007, the insured parties believed they were also entitled to the proceeds of the sale in addition to the insurance claims. Despite the fact that there was no legal basis for this, as a final solution to this dispute Inphykem made a one-off financial contribution of 500 million euros for an additional increase in the pension entitlements of the Optas insured. This solution was widely supported by the insured parties and social partners. They publicly expressed their respect and appreciation for the careful and balanced manner in which the arrangement has taken into account the interest of those directly involved.

With this amicable settlement, the dispute between Inphykem and the policyholders was definitively closed in 2010. This confirmed that Inphykem is the rightful owner of its assets, from which Ammodo obtains financial resources.

Persbericht BPVH en OPTAS

20-04-2010
